Butterflies
of Deep South Texas and N. E. Mexico
By Lee Zieger
|
Come
see and hear about these colorful little creatures.
Lee will present a hour power point slide show that
will make you wonder where to see this many gorgeous
butterflies.
Warm weather is almost here which means the Butterfly
population will increase in numbers. Come get a personal
copy of a Butterfly locater map for the Rio Grande
Valley and NE Mexico. Find out the best weather and
time of day to see butterflies.

Migration
Fallout
Sabal Palm, SPI-3+ locations,
Laguna Atascosa, Boca Chica
|
South Padre Island (SPI) is probably
the best known, but the other locations are extra good
during Fallout. First, find a day or time the winds are
out of the Northeast at 12 MPH or higher to blow the migrating
birds from their flight over the Gulf of Mexico to land.
Fallout on a sunny day gives excellent light for morning
photos. Two of the best spots on SPI are the Convention
Center and Sheepshead.
|
Tamaulipas
Crow |
I
spotted three Tamaulipas Crows on Boca Chica Blvd,
going east several block past Minnesota Ave or FM-1129
three weeks ago. A large group of Australian Pines
on the North side of Boca Chica Blvd. Other attempts
have failed, but they must be in the area already this
year.

| Rio
Grande Delta Audubon offers conservation and nature
programs for groups. I am adding " Butterflies of
RGV and NE Mexico" one hour presentation to Lee
Zieger's list of Power Point Presentation. Come to
this months meeting and see this new presentation and
maybe win a photo of one of the above butterflies. |
