Goals for Texas Wild
Presented by Stephan West

Steve is coming mainly to help in Ocelot issues. He brings a very impressive back ground (below) to succeed as he has in New Mexico, Latin America, the south Pacific and Asia.

1. To protect and promote wilderness landscapes in Texas.
2. Work to protect native ecosystems and biodiviersity in Texas
including non-wilderness areas.
3. Promote outdoor education especially with the youth of Texas.
4. Promote protection and establishment of wild and scenic rivers in Texas and on the Rio Grande bordering Mexico.
5. Develop safe passage/corridors for wildlife.
6. Work to develop community and state wide support for wilderness, wildlife and open areas.
7. Support and contribute to studies which help us to better understand Texas ecosystems.
8. Work with our Mexican partners to promote shared goals as related to wilderness, wildlife and open areas.

Speakers bio: Retired science teacher, now staff scientist for the New Mexico Wilderness Alliance and Our Texas Wild!. Author of Plants of the Northern Chihuahuan Desert and about 70 articles in science journals dealing mostly with birds. I've run a study now in our 31st year studying Cave Swallows where we have banded over 20,000 birds. Have lived in Latin America for 5 years and have led bird tours to Latin America, the south Pacific and Asia.

Serving on the local school board and on the board of the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science
