Rio Reforestation
"Notice" - Change
Date changed to Saturday November 6 with rain out for November 20. Rio Grande Delta Audubon will be doing the cooking and stuffing of Hot Dogs for all the volunteer planters and helpers. I will plan on being at the Mission, Texas site about 7AM to set up the cookers to have them heated and cooking by 8AM.
Where: The Cottam Tract is south of the Town of Granjeno. From U.S. Hwy 83, go south on FM 494/S Shary Road for nearly 4.5 miles. At the Town of Granjeno, turn left/south across the floodway across from City Hall. Once on the levee, follow directional signs. |

I found this in the begining stages last Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010. Later in the week the derrick was seen erected and working at dawn with the water in Bahia Grande lapping at it's feet.

The long awaited event for all Rio Grande nature enthusists plus birders around the United States and all the world might be about to happen with the opening of the sanctuary.
Understandings are being developed between Gorgas Foundation and Audubon for Sabal Palm Grove Scantuary opening, Rabb Plantation House complete renovation, and additional construction to better handle the environmental needs of the Rio Grande Delta and NE Mexico.
Come see a presentation on how all of this can effect Sabal Palm Grove Scantuary.
