"Rio Grande River"
Presented by Joe Krause
Come hear the Rio Grande River talk.

Joe will tell us about the geographic from its headwaters to the mouth; where the Rocky Mountains begins the flow. Come find out where and how high this mighty river starts with a wimper. Three states make up its complete route start to finish. Where does it get it's water: other rivers, streams, snow, farms, and water shed areas. Have you heard about the Rio Grande Gorge? This river has plenty of dams and even some canals built to disperse water. The Rio Grande River had farms for centuries along it whole length. Is this river of one country? Name all the towns that have grown up along its banks. The Rio Grande Valley gets what is left before it inters the Guld of Mexico.

Imagine how many fish, animals, and birds let alone people who rely on its life-giving water for survival. Think about the tales the water of the Rio Grande River could tell.

Come hear the river water talk through educator Joe Krause's eyes and ears of today with current needs, demands, and abuses put on our Rio Grande River.

Call2Recycle September 2009 Newsletter on recycling rechargable batteries

Recycling 101: Does Recycling Really Make a Difference?
Americans purchase nearly 3 billion batteries every year to power radios, toys, cellular phones, watches, laptops and power tools.

What happens to all those batteries? According to ConsumerReport.org, a typical new battery contains up to 80 percent recycled lead and plastic from former batteries. Call2Recycle helps protect the environment and keep heavy metals out of local landfills by properly recycling rechargeable batteries and cell phones and reusing the reclaimed metals. Find a collection site near you and if you wish subscribe to the monthly E-Newsletter.
