"Rio Grande Valley Specialities
and Endangered Birds "
Presented by Lee Zieger

Come enjoy another two years of photos plus the ones already seen before. Add the additional experiences birding right in your backyard. You will not only see and hear about the special birds birders travel internationally to see, but birds that are endangered and stay here during migration.

The Piping Plover is only one of the International birds we have here in the RGV for the winter.

Enjoy

Christmas Bird Counts

The Christmas Bird Counts are almost over with the last scheduled for Tuesday, January 5, 2010. The first report for Brownsville had 140 species. Birds spotted during the Count Week can raise it some more. Of course all of the count will be reviewed from several levels before the final numbers will be posted on the internet.

Thanks to all who helped in the count. It takes a lot of people to put this count together. Special thanks to Katherine Miller for doing all the work and now the compiling or putting all the figures and numbers together.

I hope to have some more information on the count at the meeting Monday evening.
