Wetlands - Why they are needed
by Leo Gustafson

Wetland Restoraton is important for migrating waterfowl. Leo will help us understand what can be done by a wetland 275 acres of water, he helped restore called Resaca de los Fresnos. He also does the water management for Laguna Atascosa NWR providing for migrating water fowl 3,500 acres of water on Laguna Atascosa. His has annual challenges in restoring or enhancing wetlands for migratory birds every year.

Leo first started volunteering for National Wildlife Refuge Service about 5 years ago.  He worked with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service for about 10 years.  He has been employed at several different refuges in Texas, including:  Buffalo Lake, Muleshoe, Anahuac, and Laguna Atascosa.  Laguna Atascosa NWR is where he has spent the past 5 years.
