The Rio Grande Delta Audubon Chapter will hold their monthly meeting
on Monday, May 7, 2007, 6:30 p.m. at the Historic Brownsville Museum at 7th and Madison Streets in Brownsville, Texas. A locator map is on this web site.
Speaker:Ms Diana Arredondo from the Center of Civic Engagement at UTB and Texas Southmost College.
Ms Arredondon will be speaking about the Center for Civic Engagement's mission to create an "engaged campus" that connects faculty, staff, students, and external partners in ways that help revitalize our community.
Ms Diana Arredondo has beeen employed by the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College for over 13 years. During the last 3 years, she has been the Office Manager for the Center for Civic Enagagement.
The Center accomplishes its mission by engaging the UTB/TSC campus through service learning, volunteering, and community based scholarship in teaching and research which adds new knowledge to our community.

Also, some discussion on fast tracking 82 miles of border fence by the DHS.

Barn Swallows died on the road. They landed from migration on roads to tired to move away from on coming cars near Boca Chica Beach, Brownsville, Texas.
The dead birds were on the road to the South side of plants seeking shelter from the cold North winds.

Greg Vail was alerted by a call from a friend. Fish and Wildlife confirmed this did happen and not just at Boca Chica. Greg tried to come from behind to move it off the road and to his surprise it flew at the last second.

Swallow-tailed Kite Boca Chica Beach Cameron County Brownsville Texas

Three Swallow-tailed Kites landed during migration at Boca Chica Beach and nine at South Padre Island in some palms near the Convention Center. This image is from Boca Chica beach at the same time as the Barn Swallow image.
