Event:
The Rio Grande Delta Audubon Chapter will hold their monthly meeting
on Monday, July 9, 2007, 6:30 p.m. at the Historic Brownsville Museum at 7th and Madison Streets in Brownsville, Texas. A locator map is on this web site.

Secure Border Initiative and Secure Fence Act

Agents Homer Zuniga and Vicente Rodriguez will let us know about the Secure Border Initiative and Secure Fence Act. The presentation will include a Power Point followed by a question and answer session. See some links below about the Home Land Security Border Fence including links to the Secure Fence Act.

The Photo were taken between 7:30AM and 8AM Friday, July 6, 2007

These birds were on Texas 48 between Port Isabel and Bajia Grande. They were perched on the fence just West about 30' along the highway. I stopped my car and took the photos even with the birds and drove on without them flying. A pair of Harris Hawks were also in the same situation just on a curve with a guard rail making parking too dangerous. Larger pictures can be see by clicking on the photos. Does anyone know what kind of a turtle the Chihuahuan Raven is enjoying? The raven usually pick up road kill unlike the raptors who look for live prey.

I visited the 15 mile loop, Texas 48, and other parts of the Laguna Madre Thursday. One Heron, a Tri-colored Heron, was seen while very few Egrets with no Reddish Egrets were visable in their usual wading and feeding locations. Rosette Spoonbills were also strangely absent. I could not get out to see the biggest collection of nesting Reddish Egrets in the USA on Green Island. I hope that location has faired better!
